The Dominican Republic became the headquarters for the filming of at least 12 project shootings, five of them foreign and seven local.
This was stated by the director general of Cinema, Marianna Vargas Gurilieva, who assured that it is the highest number that the country has experienced simultaneously of filming.
“RD became a filming set: 7 national shootings and 5 foreign ones. This is the highest number of international productions filming simultaneously ”, wrote Vargas Gurilieva.
Precisely today the closure was announced, for this Thursday, of La Isabella street, in Los Guarícanos, Santo Domingo Norte, where a scene from a series for Netflix would be recorded.
The announcement of the closure of the road was made in a paid space of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transport (Intrant) and the General Directorate of Cinema (Dgecine), where it is indicated that it will be from 6:00 in the morning to 7:00 of the night.
Incentives in 2021
The Dominican Republic has incentives to boost the film industry in the Central American and Caribbean regions. These are 25% through a Transferable Tax Credit and the 18% exemption from Value Added Tax (VAT) on applicable goods and services.
Foreign films and series recorded in the Dominican Republic have not only attracted foreign currency, but also created 944 direct jobs.
