57-year-old fan dies after riots in a match between Gimnasia and Boca Juniors

The duel between Gimnasia and Boca Juniors has mourned the city of La Plata. What would be one of the most important games of the last championship in Argentina was overshadowed by chaos, when 9 minutes into the first half, the disturbances generated by fans of the “Tripero” outside the “El Bosque” stadium caused strong repression by the police.

Unfortunately, the disagreement resulted in a victim, according to what the sports authorities reported. The deceased was identified as César Gustavo Regueiro, known as “el Lolo”, a 57-year-old man, who suffered cardiac arrest while being transferred in an ambulance by a medical team to the San Martín hospital.

The victim’s brother-in-law stated in a local media outlet that his relative had had trouble breathing due to the tear gas that the law enforcement officers had released when trying to control the situation on the court.

“Hello, I wanted to let you know that my brother-in-law just passed away, they killed him on the field… He couldn’t breathe with all the tear gas they fired and well, Gustavo “Lolo” Regueiro died on the field. I want justice to be done,” he declared.
