Alcasec is one of the most wanted hackers in Spain. At just 19 years old, he managed to infiltrate the database of corporations and government entities. He was arrested on March 31 and given a sentence of up to five years. In this note we will tell you about the life and work of this famous cybercriminal.
Who is Alcasec?
Nicknamed by some as the ‘Robin Hood of hackers’, José Luis Huertas or Alcasec is a 19-year-old Spanish youth who managed to infiltrate the system of multiple corporations and government entities.
With a very thin build, childish features and bushy eyebrows, this young man began his life as a hacker at the age of 15, when he entered the HBO database and created more than 150,000 accounts with a two-month free subscription that he gave to his followers. by Instagram.
Likewise, it managed to get all the Bicimad modules to project the phrase “Hacked by Alcasec” and for the meals issued by the Burger King ordering machines to come out at zero cost.
Tired of repeating this modus operandi, Alcasec sought to infiltrate more private content, which is how he obtained the medical record of the ultra-conservative and Vox leader Santiago Abascal, which he did not hesitate to upload to social networks censoring his data. Action that was the breaking moment in this story.
Far out of power, the young hacker realized that he could access anything. No one could be saved from him, not even the government. That’s how he started with his alibi.
He sneaked into the database of government entities such as the National Police, the Ministry of the Interior, the Granada City Council, among others, and managed to intercept 53,000 euros and diverted them to two bank accounts.
With a record already marked and being known by the country’s authorities, it was to be expected that they would arrest him at any time. The Police expected that, an error that sentenced him.
So it was. He suffered several arrests and was confined in juvenile centers. However, they would not stop until they put him behind bars. Which happened once he reached the age of majority.
Why did they arrest him?
After getting used to a life of crime, in the shadows, and with his perception of reality altered, he figured that with the skill set he possessed, it would be a long time before he was arrested. This led him to dig into the depths of this field and commit numerous crimes.
His last “big coup” was between October 18 and 20, 2022, against the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), with which he accessed the passwords of Justice Administration officials and entered the Judicial Neutral Point and infiltrated the banking information of 575,186 taxpayers, of which they assume that a part would have been sold to third parties.
For this crime he was arrested by justice that he once violated. With no way out and with a provisional prison order, he only had to wait for the verdict of the judge of the National Court José Luis Calama, who, after taking a tour of all his crimes, worthy of a fictional movie script, announced the five years in prison that the young hacker would suffer.
more serious cases
According to an interview given to the Alex Hawkers podcast and various statements to the Club 113 podcast, Alcasec commented that the “most important achievements” of his activity as a hacker are:
- Hack HBO and give away the accounts for Instagram.
- The hacking of the National Police.
- Have the information of 90% of Spain.
- He hacked Mediaset, which he confesses was a mistake in thinking he was the corporate head of La Sexta.
- Part of the latter was the impersonation of Paolo Vasile, owner of Mediaset.
- Hacking the General Directorate of Traffic, where he was able to issue hundreds of driver’s licenses.
- And his debut film and main cause of confinement: the attack on the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ).
The young hacker spared no expense and did little to hide it either. He lived a life full of luxuries thanks to the large amount of money he obtained from his crimes.
He knew how to manage and hide his transactions, he also demonstrated exceptional skill in managing his main assets: cryptocurrencies.
This lifestyle was also cause for suspicion. With so many luxuries, such as travel, expensive, branded clothing, refined food, among others, and no income record, the Police drew their conclusions and decided to investigate.
They found what they were looking for and classified it as a “serious threat” due to “the magnitude of its cyberattacks and the sensitive data it handled”, since it made this information available as a consultation service as an offer to third parties, a database that it baptized as “The eye of Horus”.
Francisco Nicolás Gómez Iglesias or Little Nicolás is a well-known hacker in Spain and a close friend of Alcasec. The Police deduced that both would be building a hybrid between all the accumulated information and selling it to the highest bidder.
However, judicial sources consulted by El Mundo confirmed that the relationship between Nicolás and Alcasec “ended a year ago and abruptly.”
