Alianza Lima and 8 other clubs signed with GolPerú: “No one can prevent our participation”

Continue the conflict for the TV rights of League 1. This Thursday, December 15, it was learned that Alianza Lima and eight other clubs from the local tournament signed a contract with the Consorcio Fútbol Perú (GolPerú) to continue broadcasting the matches of the national championship in the 2023 season.

This announcement occurs in the framework in which the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) announced weeks ago that the international company 1190 Sports would be in charge of the commercialization of sports rights for Peruvian football. Also, last Monday, December 12, Conmebol sent a forceful message to GolPerú about TV rights and supporting the management of Agustín Lozano.

As is known, several Liga 1 teams showed their discontent with the FPF for taking control of the broadcasts of the matches. That is why they issued a statement in which they announced that they signed a new agreement with GolPerú.

“The signatory clubs […] We have renewed our relationship with the Consorcio Fútbol Perú regarding the broadcasting rights of first division professional soccer matches, so said company will continue broadcasting the matches in which we play at home”, the ad needs.

Alianza Lima, Universitario and the rest of the signatory clubs allege that their decision is the most “safe, transparent and beneficial”. In addition, they assured that the link with the Consortium is “the best for our interests.”

“In merit of justice, legality and the promotion of national sport, no one can prevent our participation, even more so without having due process,” expressed the sports institutions, alleging that the negotiation between the FPF and 1190 Sports is not adequate.
