Ana María Polo and the difficult years in Puerto Rico

Ana María Polo left Cuba in adolescence, when she and her family decided to travel to Puerto Rico because her father had found a stable job.

In an interview with Chilevisión, Ana María Polo said that Puerto Rico was a pleasant and welcoming country in the early years, however, things changed when they began to feel discriminated against for being Cubans. As he pointed out, things got worse when his father’s boss was assassinated.

Ana María reported that when the accountant of her father’s company was killed, discrimination against Cubans increased. “(There was) a sign that said Get out of here Cuban pigs !. My father’s partner was Puerto Rican, ”he said at the time.

“Puerto Rico lived through a very difficult time where they began to hate foreigners a lot, and especially Cubans. Puerto Rico felt, at some point, that the Cuban invaded his country, that he was taking away his job, “he added in said interview.

Ana María Polo in the United States

Due to this tense situation in Puerto Rico, Ana María Polo decided to migrate to the United States with her family and ended up settling in Miami, where most of her relatives were based.

At just 17 years old, Dr. Ana María Polo began to study and become a professional. She entered Florida International University, where she studied Political Science with a BA. However, he wanted to continue studying and managed to obtain a law degree from the University of Miami.
