The urban exponent Austin Agustín Santos, better known as Archangelwill receive an International Sovereign for his 19 years of experience during the ceremony of Sovereign Awards 2023 which will take place on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at the Eduardo Brito National Theater.
The International Sovereign is reserved for those foreign artists with an outstanding career and who enjoy great popularity among Dominicans.
“For the Executive Committee, it is very gratifying to recognize this popular Puerto Rican artist who, not only because of his music, has a very close link with our country,” said Emelyn Baldera, president of Acroarte. “We are convinced that both his legion of fans spread throughout the world, as well as his compatriots, will enthusiastically receive and celebrate this recognition that we give to the 19-year career.”
Archangel is a Puerto Rican singer, songwriter and pioneer of trap in Spanish of Dominican origin. He was born in New York in 1985, but grew up in Puerto Rico, where in the early 2000s he began his artistic career.
The artist has a varied style of music combining elements of reggaeton, hip-hop, R&B and electronic music, achieving great successes, among which are “Pa’ que la pas bien”, “Flow violento”, “A long time ago ” and “You prefer me.”
Arcángel has collaborated with other internationally renowned artists such as Daddy Yankee, Wisin & Yandel, De La Ghetto and J Balvin. He has also released several mixtapes and solo albums, including “Sentimiento, Elegancia & Maldad”, “Los Favoritos” and recently “Mr. Santos,” which was named to Billboard magazine’s “Best Albums of 2022” list.
Throughout his career, he has been nominated for several awards, including the Latin Grammys, Billboard Latin Music Awards, and Premios Juventud. He is one of the most influential artists of reggaeton and urban music in general of these times.
Premios Soberano, which has the production of Alberto Zayas, promises an unforgettable night hosted by the “inimitable imitator”, Julio Sabala, winner of the Gran Soberano in 1995 and all the musical segments that will complement the gala. The ceremony will also feature the presentation of the talented presenters Luz García and Pamela Sued.
The award ceremony organized by Acroarte and Cervecería Nacional Dominicana will be broadcast by Telecentro (channel 13), starting at 7:00 p.m., when the red carpet produced by Giancarlo Beras begins, and is co-sponsored by Banreservas and live.
