Argentines propose to take the heart of Diego Maradona to the Qatar 2022 World Cup

This 2022 marks two years since the death of the greatest idol of Argentine soccer, Diego Armando Maradona. However, time is not a reason for forgetfulness for his admirers in the world. The heart of “Ten” lives in each of the fans of the Argentine National Team to the point of asking for his organ to be seen at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Argentine journalist Nelson Castro, author of the book “La Salud de Diego”, revealed that Diego Maradona had been buried without a heart. His organ, like his liver and kidneys, was preserved in formalin for the next 10 years, in order to be studied.

The organs remain in the Department of Pathological Anatomy in La Plata, just meters from Juan Carmelo Zerillo, the last stadium that the ‘Diez’ stepped on as coach of Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata.

The issue of his organs came up again during the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers when an advertising agency put together a campaign for Diego’s heart to travel to the World Cup to accompany the Argentine team in concentration, training and even matches.

“For the love of Diego, for this World Cup that is coming, we want to fulfill what we feel would be his wish, we want Maradona’s heart to travel with the National Team to Qatar,” said Javier Mentasti, leader of the Bombay agency, one of the promoters of the initiative.

However, it is unlikely that Justice will give in to the request, as explained. However, faith is the last thing to be lost.

“That he accompany the team on the way to Ezeiza, that he travel with them, that he be in the concentration, in a room, in the bus, in the locker room, on the field and if God and Diego want, seven games later, next to the long-awaited cup”, he added.

Lucas Mentasti, another of the creators of the campaign, proposed: “Can you imagine Diego Maradona’s heart in the National Team’s locker room and in the pre-match talks? It may be a dream, but we want it to come true.”
