“Carta blanca” is the “Public Choice Movie” of the Dominican Film Festival in New York

After its great premiere in Dominican cinemas, the action, drama and suspense film “Carta Blanca”, by director Pedro Urrutia continues to achieve international success by winning the “Public Choice Movie” award at the Dominican Film Festival in New York 2021.

“I am very happy for what we are achieving. Seeing people happy, speaking so highly of the film, in its two fully packed performances at this event, that was the grand prize. But also, that ‘Carta Blanca’ has its first award, and that it is from the Dominican diaspora, means a lot. “It is the first project in my life that has been recognized outside of the Dominican Republic”, the young director valued.

The film, inspired by real events, tells the hidden reality about the police and the “carte blanche” code in the Dominican Republic. It is the story of Manuel Mena, a policeman who lives between two worlds: bringing criminals to justice and trying not to be executed under the governing system.

“Carta Blanca”, which has an original script by Urrutia himself, produced by One Alliance and distributed by Caribbean Films Distribution, has outstanding performances by the Dominican Pepe Sierra, the Mexicans Damián Alcázar and Julio Bracho and the urban artists Tempo , El Alfa, Mark B and La Manta.
