After living his first experience in European football with the Emmen FC of the Netherlands, the midfielder Didier La Torre he is preparing to earn a position with Osijek in Croatia, the club that signed him several weeks ago. The former Alianza Lima player revealed that he seeks to consolidate in the Old Continent in this new stage of his professional career.
“The club trusts me and I hope to do my best. It is a beautiful project to continue growing and thus accommodate myself in a better league ”, said the 19-year-old footballer in dialogue with the newspaper As. “For a 19-year-old Peruvian to reach a European league is unusual nowadays”, added the midfielder.
In 2021, La Torre played the Eredivisie alongside his compatriots Miguel Araujo Sergio Peña and Jean Pierre Rhyner at the Emmen. Like the last two, he emigrated to another league after the team’s relegation, a fact by which he acknowledged feeling affected at the beginning, but which he was able to overcome thanks to his surroundings.
“It is not a beautiful moment, much less that a player wants, but in football these things happen. The only thing I thought about was how to turn the situation around (…) I think everything happens mentally, there are many who would collapse, but the environment I have helped me a lot. I did not feel alone. Now I stay in Europe. I want to play and consolidate there ”, Held.
Regarding the possibility of returning at some point to the local tournament, La Torre was prudent in not categorically denying this scenario, although he reaffirmed that his intention is to continue abroad. “I do not rule out anything. In the end, I am building my career. I hope to stay in Europe for many years, but I do not discard any situation “, he concluded.
