Dog saves injured hiker by huddling around him for 13 hours in mountains [FOTOS]


A dog saved the life of a injured hiker by lying on top of it and keeping it warm for 13 hours. Grga Brkic he fell while walking with his dog, North, in the Velebit Mountains in Croatia and was unable to move, local media reported.

Two others who were walking with him could not reach Mr. Brkic and raised the alarm. North, a Alaskan malamute eight months old, she snuggled up with Brkic and kept warm for 13 hours before they were rescued.

“Friendship and love between a man and a dog have no borders“said the mountain rescue service of Croatia on Facebook. He added that North “snuggled up and warmed” Brkic while first responders tried to rescue him.

Finally, the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service cautioned against taking dogs on excursions in difficult conditions, especially during harsh winter weather.
