Femicide in Mexico: former director of Amazon paid hitmen to kill his wife

On November 25, 2019, International Day Against Gender Violence, a planned murder occurred against a woman identified as Abril Pérez Sagaón. A hitman had followed her step, and perpetrated the crime under the order of a third person. The identity of this has been verified this Monday, June 13, three years after her feminicide.

The authorities have indicated Juan Carlos García as the intellectual author of the murder of his wife. The reason would have been a complaint filed by Pérez Sagaón after receiving death threats at home, in front of his children.

The hitman who spoke with the judge commented that Juan Carlos García offered 180,000 Mexican pesos, equivalent to 9,000 dollars, plus a bonus of 2,500 extra dollars if the crime was committed before a hearing related to the complaint.

The criminal complied with the order and carried out the murder. After his death, the man, who had been in preventive detention for 10 months, was released for not presenting more evidence of family violence against him.

García was chosen by Amazon as the leader to open the company’s first subsidiary in Mexican territory. He was in charge of the position until 2017.

The former director of the headquarters in Mexico has an unknown whereabouts, since the statements of the hitman in charge of the death of his wife were revealed. According to the authorities, he would have left his house and addresses where he went.
