Femicide in Venezuela: teenager murders a minor and buries his remains in a cemetery

The femicide of a minor at the hands of her ex-partner, a 17-year-old teenager, keeps Venezuela in shock after the authorities found the remains of the victim in a cemetery.

According to a report by El Pitazo, the body of the victim, reported missing a month ago, was found in the Santa Lucía municipal cemetery in Ciudad Ojeda, in Zulia state, on Tuesday, November 16. The Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (Cicpc) confirmed that the aggressor strangled her and then buried her body.

For weeks, the relatives of the minor had maintained a campaign on social networks in order to locate her. “Anyone who has seen this girl is thanked for letting us know. We do not know anything about her and she is 13 years old, ”the messages said.

According to Últimas Noticias, the skeleton was found under stones in the Jardín Santa Lucía cemetery, after which they arrested his ex-partner, who confessed to the femicide. According to Noticias al Día, the femicide mentioned in the interrogation that he had contracted a sexually transmitted disease.

From January to September of this year, there were 180 femicides, with an average of one sexist crime every 36 hours, according to the Utopix organization.

The Digital Observatory of Femicides of the Center for Justice and Peace (Cepaz), an organization that registers cases of completed and frustrated femicides in Venezuela, points out, for its part, that only in September there were 20 completed femicides and 11 in a degree of frustration.
