Fine Arts opens music academy in the municipality of Cabrera

The general director of Fine Arts, Mario Lebrón, led the opening ceremony of the new Music Academy of the municipality of Cabrera, in the province of María Trinidad Sánchez.

With this training center, the music academies rise to 20, plus the 19 multidisciplinary schools, which are under the guidelines of the DGBA in the east, north, northwest, south, border area, Santo Domingo East and Central Cibao.

“We were missing eight provinces, now seven are missing to have a Fine Arts presence (…) We have made a great effort to open this academy. Our objective is to fill the country”, expressed Mario Lebrón in the midst of the insistent applause of cultural managers, artists and authorities of this city.

The general director of the DGBA said that his goal is that this center can later become a school of Fine Arts, where the disciplines of plastic arts, theater and dance are also taught.

“In my two years in Fine Arts I have been able to feel the great need that the Dominican people have for their children, children and young people, to be trained in any of the artistic disciplines; and it is beautiful, because the artist, who studies art, has a different vision of the world, has a social sensitivity that other professions do not have”, said Lebrón in the company of Elvis Guzmán, director of Education and Specialized Artistic Training (@defaebellasartesrd) ; Yanet Acosta, coordinator of the new Academy of Music, and Gracita Francisco, director of Human Resources for Fine Arts.

He stressed that the opening of the Music Academy is the result of the constant work and union of the community, both civil society and public and private authorities of the municipality of Cabrera.

This project, which is part of the cultural policies of the government of President Luis Abinader, will allow children and adolescents to have the opportunity to receive comprehensive training, which includes the study of art history, music, solfeggio, composition, arrangements, among other things.

The opening of the Music Academy of the municipality of Cabrera was attended by Mayor Marlon Arias; the alderman and president of the Chapter House, Lewis Méndez; Councilor Nereyda Abreu; the engineer Máximo Pereyra, representing FEDEROCA (entity that brings together all the Cabrera Associations); Alejandro Javier, representative of the Association of Professionals of Cabrera; Samuel Martínez, director of the Educational District 14-02; Austria Bonilla, deputy director of the Educational District 14-02; Karina Lavandier, Provincial Director of Culture, and Willy Bonilla, representing Senator Alexis Victoria Yeb.

“The goal is to continue opening new academies, the goal is to fill the country,” said Lebrón. In that sense, he said that they are already in contact with the new Minister of Education, in search of creating strategic alliances that allow expanding artistic training throughout the national territory.

While the construction of the campus materializes, the music classes will be taught thanks to the collaboration of the Educational District 14-02, who have given some of their classrooms and office space for academic coordination.
