Germany does not rule out blocking chatGPT for data theft

A few days ago, Italy became one of the first countries to block ChatGPT due to its failure to protect the data of the country’s users. This problem could cause other governments to consider blocking the intelligent chatbot as well. One of them is Germany, which has not ruled out doing so.

According to Reuters, the German data protection commissioner, ulrich kelber, has declared that their pulse would not shake at all when it comes to blocking ChatGPT, thereby suggesting that banning the chatbot is also possible in the aforementioned European country.

Germany also reportedly requested information from Italy about the blocking against ChatGPT. For their part, from Ireland, they point out that they are also following up with the Italian regulator to understand the basis of their action and coordinate with all the data protection authorities of the European Union.

ChatGPT’s problems

One of the causes of the ban on ChatGPT in Italy was the leak of sensitive data, such as first and last name, email address associated with the payment and the last four digits of the credit card. This flaw was revealed by users of Twitter and Reddit. Given this, OpenAI reported that this caused the ChatGPT service to be suspended for a moment until the problem is corrected.
