Giants leave the Licey on the ground and are alone in second place

Alfredo Marte hit a sacrifice fly so that the Gigantes del Cibao defeated the Tigres del Licey 4-3 in eleven innings on Thursday, in a game of the Dominican winter baseball tournament, held at the Julián Javier Stadium.

Kelvin Gutiérrez and Carlos Peguero were walked by González Germen before Marte hit a long fly ball to center field, driving in Gutiérrez to give the Giants their fourth straight win, moving into the middle game of first position.

The victory went to Huáscar Brazobán (2-0) with an inning of two strikeouts.

The loss went to Germen (1-1) by allowing a run and withdrawing just two outs.

The Tigers took the lead in the first inning, with a sacrifice fly from Yermín Mercedes that drove in Chris Owings, and an indisputable Anderson Tejeda that pushed Ronny Mauricio to make the game 2-0.

The Giants fought back in the second. Kelvin Gutierrez and Marcell Ozuna hit back-to-back singles. Carlos Peguero continued with a double that took Gutiérrez to the rubber and Ozuna to third base.

Webster Rivas singled to left that drove in two and the Giants went up 3-2.

In the fourth chapter, Rivas took the ball out of the park to tie the actions.

With the defeat, their second in a row, Licey put their record at 8-10 and fell to last place in the standings.

For the Giants, Peguero hit a pair of doubles and scored one, with a RBI. Gutiérrez, 4-2 and two scored.

For Licey, Anderson Tejeda, 4-2, with a home run and two RBIs.
