“He protected her”: girl is the only survivor in a plane crash; hug from her father saved her

On Saturday, November 13, a twin-engine Britton-Norman BN-2 plane crashed in Mackinaw City east of USA. Only an 11-year-old girl whose father died protecting her survived in the accident, according to relatives.

A pilot and four other passengers were traveling on a small Island Airways company plane bound for Beaver Island in Michigan. However, a problem with the aircraft caused it to crash 15 minutes after takeoff. Four of the five people traveling died, local authorities said.

One of the victims was Mike perdue a real estate agent, who was transporting with his youngest daughter who survived. Mike’s wife told local media that the girl was saved from more serious injuries because her father, during the last moments of her life, protected her by keeping her protected in his arms.

“Laney told me at the hospital that her last memory is that Dad just grabbed her and hugged her really, really tight. (…) He gave the best bear hugs, and I think he hugged our daughter and protected her, ”Cristina Perdue, mother of the youngest, told ABC News Christina.

The Coast Guard that watches over the Great Lakes region was training in the area at the time and responded to an emergency call that came from the island. The 11-year-old was later transferred to a hospital in Petoskey.

Kate Leese and Adam Kendall also died in the accident. They both planned to establish a vineyard on Beaver Island. The pilot in the crash also passed away, but his name has yet to be released.

The little girl was in critical condition; however, he is recovering in a children’s hospital in Grand Rapids. The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
