In recent years, Huawei has attached particular importance to its Nova family of phones. Therefore, after presenting the Nova 8 and Nova 8 Pro the Chinese manufacturer launched the Huawei Nova 8i. This device has a high-end design, but its most prominent feature is its quad rear camera.
In recent years, most users are looking for a smartphone with a good camera and that offers good results when taking pictures. For this reason, we have put the Huawei Nova 8i to the test in and around the Plaza de Armas in Lima.
The navigation by sections occurs by sliding between fixed tabs: the Huawei Nova 8i camera interface is very complete, since we have the aperture, night, portrait, photo and video modes.
Also, the Huawei Nova 8i camera app has additional functions such as Pro mode, Panoramic, HDR, Quick camera, Watermark, Super macro and High resolution. Unfortunately, it is not capable of automatically detecting that you are going to take a photo of a document.
In the interface of the mobile camera app we also have an option that allows us to activate artificial intelligence. It also integrates fairly comprehensive settings, such as sound control and smile capture.
When it comes to video recording, we have three options, but only at a speed of 30 fps. Among other useful tools, we find the timer and the functionality to add a watermark to our photographs.
Its main chamber is 64 MP with aperture f / 1.9 And with high resolution, you can take photos with all that level of detail. Also, the main camera of the Huawei Nova 8i tends to take good photos in bright conditions. Details are good and sharp enough.
Indoors the photos also turn out in a good way, although the white balance tends a lot to warm colors, but that is something that can be corrected with a little editing; however, in general, good performance can be seen both indoors and outdoors.
Its ultra-wide camera is 8 MP with f / 2.4 aperture fixed focus and 120 ° wide. This sensor also produces decent results, although the details are somewhat less sharp and the grainy noise is more noticeable. And it has a typical problem with ultra-wide-angle cameras: sharpness is reduced towards the margins.
The main camera still gets pretty decent results in low-light situations thanks to its 2-inch aperture. f / 1.9. However, details are somewhat less sharp and luminance noise is more noticeable.
For its part, the ultra-wide-angle camera of the Huawei Nova 8i falls short with its aperture of f / 2.4 in low light conditions. There is loss of detail and the presence of grainy noise is more evident.
The night mode of the Huawei Nova 8i It comes in handy when our camera struggles in low light conditions. Night mode captures images with less noise, sharper details, and more vivid colors.
You can also shoot close-ups with the mode Super macro at an optical distance of 4 cm. The result is respectable, with just the right level of detail and sharpness, but we can’t expect more from a 2 MP macro lens.
As for the zoom, the device will take advantage of the high resolution sensor that it has, since it does not have a special camera for telephoto. In 4X quality still looks pretty good with a good level of detail and the maximum is 8X, where the noise is notorious.
For portrait photographs, we have a depth detection camera, which is 2 MP with f / 2.4 aperture and fixed focus, although in portrait mode it does not cause more blurring than the one performed naturally by the lens. the camera.
Likewise, the Huawei Nova 8i camera has various filters for photography such as: sentimental, impact, DN, valence, sad, halo, nostalgia and sunrise.
For video recording, this equipment only supports Full HD at 30 fps, so it feels like a not very modern experience, although most people continue to record in this quality and it is the most recommended.
The video recording approach on the Huawei Nova 8i is not very good and we will not find good stabilization either, as movements are noticeable when you walk.
Also, against the light we have a balanced video and this is because it does not detect when a face is present. However, at night the video recording is not going to be good, although it is compliant.
