INDEX and Huawei sign agreement


The Institute of Dominicans Abroad (INDEX) and company Huawei Technologies Dominican (Huawei) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to train Dominicans residing abroad in aspects related to Information and Communication Technologies.

The agreement signed between the executive director of the INDEXCarlos De La Mota, and the Vice President of Government and Business Business of HuaweiLiuyanxing, plans to make available to the Dominican community abroad the learning platform and training courses “ICT Talent Development Plan”, through which the telecommunications company transfers its experiences and technological knowledge.

“This agreement is an example of the commitment of both entities to support Dominican men and women abroad, providing them with the training and education in information and communication technology that they need so much to adapt to the new realities of the world of work”, considered the Director De La Mota.

Among the commitments assumed, Huawei commits to deliver 30 HCIA certifications (Huawei Certified ICT Associate), which provides knowledge and skills in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and 100 tablets to strengthen the INDEXas well as its educational and co-development programs, facilitating access to technology for young Dominicans abroad and their communities of origin.

According to the Vice President of Government and Business Business of HuaweiLiuyanxing, Dominican Republic has taken the development of ICT very seriously to allow everyone to have access to new services, that’s why “Huawei pledges to support the INDEX and to the Dominican Republic in general, to pursue this objective, joining efforts to close the digital divide at different levels”.

The agreement also included the creation of a Joint Technical Commission for the administration and monitoring of the commitments assumed.

The event, held at the Convention Center of the Dominican Foreign Ministry, was attended by the manager of Public Affairs and Communications of Huawei, Yunessis Sanchez; directors and other officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the INDEX.
