The objective of this festival is to publicize the cultural richness of india to the inhabitants of the Dominican Republic, providing a great opportunity for the Dominican people to witness and experience Indian culture through multi-sensory experiences, talks, workshops and exhibitions.
This festival is the first official activity carried out by the diplomatic delegation of india in the country, a week of exhibitions and permanent experiences open to the public and will be made up of a program of events that will make it easier for visitors to learn about different cultural, gastronomic and artistic manifestations of india.
“At Ágora we are convinced that the best way to strengthen relations between countries is this, to get to know each other better, promote solidarity, cultivate respect for diversity, and from there strengthen democracy and respect between our nations. Starting today we will have a full week to get to know better india and those traits that characterize it and make it a unique nation in the world,” said Silvia Rosales, manager of the mall.”
The main attractions of the “Namaste India Festival” include food demonstrations of india with the sale of appetizers typical dishes. Likewise, visitors will have the opportunity to take photos in front of a Photobooth with the image of the emblematic Taj Mahal. This year in india The International Year of Millet is being commemorated, which is why a promotional event has been included in the gastronomic part with a tasting of Indian recipes based on this product: millet.
There will also be displays and sales of Indian health care products. On Sunday, January 29, starting at 3 in the afternoon, the Indian classical dance group Odissi will perform. As part of the ceremony, an Indian fashion show will be held: to show the representative traditional Indian costumes.
Additionally, throughout the week the Bollywood dance show will be presented, there will be an Indian Henna art stall where Henna art demonstrations will be held and artistic works will be made for visitors.
Free yoga workshops will be given so that those interested can learn about the basic yoga postures for beginners. For the most advanced in this discipline, Yogathon sessions will be held with a yoga competition for advanced students, an activity to be carried out on January 28, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
