Jorge Luis Pinto ‘shot’ against Gareca by Claudio Pizarro: “I would have taken him to Russia”

The Peruvian national team has Juan Reynoso as its new coach; however, the work done by his colleague Ricardo Gareca is still remembered, who managed to qualify Bicolor for a World Cup after 36 years. Precisely, the former World Cup coach, Jorge Luis Pinto, referred to the decisions made by the “Tiger” during the 2018 World Cup.

The Colombian strategist was very punctual when speaking about the Argentine’s position of not taking Claudio Pizarro to the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The coffee grower disagreed with Ricardo Gareca by stating that he would have summoned the ‘Bombardier of the Andes’ and even would have made play all three group stage games.

“It is true and painful for Claudio not to have played a World Cup. I, Jorge Luis Pinto, would have worn it and in the three games I would have put it in as a replacement, because today I understand his age and all the things that are said around him. But in 20 or 30 minutes it would have been extremely useful, ”he told Radio Ovación.

Likewise, George Louis Pinto regretted that the technicians who went through the Peruvian team have not known how to take advantage of and get the best potential from Claudio pizarro during his time in the Bicolor.

“They didn’t find it at the right time. Both the team and those who directed it did not believe much in Claudio, and Claudio is an eminent definer, a man of the area who converts at any time. He maybe he didn’t have the dynamic that some wanted, but he came from the European world, ”he maintained.

The international friendly between Peru vs. Mexico will take place this Saturday, September 24 at 8:00 pm (Peruvian time), at the Rose Bowl in the United States. Also, three days later, the Blanquirroja will face El Salvador at Audi Field.
