K-pop star Moonbin dies at 25 and police investigate if it was a suicide

South Korean k-pop star moonbin o Moon Bin died on Wednesday at his residence in the Gangnam district of Seoul. He was 25 years old at the time of his death.

The lifeless body of the member of the Astro group was found by his manager, who immediately informed the police who are investigating whether it was a suicide. “It appears that Moonbin took his own life,” Seoul authorities said in a statement. “We are currently discussing the possibility of an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death.”

For its part, the agency that represented the young artist, Fantasio, confirmed the unfortunate news and asked fans to “refrain from making speculative or malicious reports.”

“While it cannot be compared to the grief of the bereaved family who had to part with their loving son and brother, his fellow artists and the staff here at Fantagio, who have stood by him for a long time, are also mourning the departure amidst tremendous shock and sadness,” the statement continued.

Born Moon Bin Cheongju, in South Korea, he debuted in 2016 as part of Astro, becoming one of six of its members, but in 2019 he was absent for a year due to health problems.

As a model and actor, Moonbin participated in the 2006 music video “Ballons” by the band TVXQ and acted in 2009 and 2019 in the series “Boys Over Flower” and “At Eighteen” respectively.
