At 82 years of life, “El Añoñaíto” is the longest-standing artist nominated this year for the Latin music award.
Segura is nominated in the category “Best Merengue and / or Bachata Album” for his musical album “El Papá de la Bachata, su legado (Añoñado I, II, III, IV)”, which he recorded with 40 colleagues from different genres.
“With nerves and great enthusiasm I am on my way to represent our Dominican Republic with dignity, just as in these more than 60 years of career, with the help always of God, I hope I have done it as our country deserves,” Segura said before addressing the flight.

The executive production of the four volumes was designed and directed by Wandro Quiroz, president of the company WQ Producciones, together with José Luis Segura, son of the veteran bachatero, and his family.
Meanwhile, the musical production of the legacy album was in charge of Edward Segura, the singer’s youngest son, who has played an important role in his father’s career for more than 30 years.
All the songs were mastered by the outstanding Argentine sound engineer and producer Andrés Mayo, winner of international awards, including several Grammys, who together with Edward Segura gave a very high international quality to this collector’s album.
The emblematic musical compendium has been extracted from the extensive production of more than 500 compositions recorded by El Papá de la Bachata during almost 60 years of uninterrupted artistic activity dedicated exclusively to the Bachata genre, which owes much of its validity to this singer and composer. in the Dominican and Latin American public.
The four volumes cover songs by Luis Segura that have been hits, composed between 1964 and 2014, and have been accompanied in the performance by artists from three different generations.
The collaboration of 40 artists in the recording of the compilation of successful bachatas written, performed and recorded by the same author, constitutes an unprecedented event in the history of Dominican popular art and one of the greatest feats performed by any Dominican artist of all the times, which becomes a Latin American record.
