Microsoft Edge will have a VPN developed in partnership with Cloudflare

Microsoft and Cloudflare come together to develop a VPN that will soon be integrated into Edge the web browser. At the moment, the new function has not been made official by the companies, but all its details are already available on a support page of the company. Redmond.

The tool will work with the denomination of Microsoft Edge Secure Network and it will offer the same properties found in other solutions of this type. As such, when activated, it will encrypt the connection to protect users from tracking and computer attacks. It will then hide the location to bypass website blocking.

Once available, Microsoft Edge VPN will be activated from the browser settings. When it is running, it will be identified by a shield icon visible on the right side of the address bar.

To use the option it will be mandatory to log in from a Microsoft account. In this way, the company can control the consumption of data, since it will allow you to use up to 1 GB free per month. However, they will not store data related to online activity.

At the moment it is unknown what payment plans Redmond will propose when the monthly free data quota is exhausted, although there will probably be details in this regard in the coming weeks. It has also not been revealed when it would be available to the public, as it is now only accessible to a select group of canary testers.
