Moto G60s review: the good and the bad of the phone with quad rear camera

In recent years, Motorola has given special importance to its family of mobile phones. Moto G. For this reason, the company has launched the Moto G60s, a mid-range device that is available in Peru and that stands out for its great autonomy, performance and quad rear camera.

This Motorola device is powered by a processor MediaTek Helio G95 and it has other features that make it an interesting mid-range. We have been able to test this smartphone for a few weeks, and here we explain the good and the bad of this phone.

Its construction is in plastic on the back cover and also on the frames, so we will have a good resistance. Your screen is 6.8 inches with fairly small frames on the sides and a slightly thicker lower frame, but, because it has rounded corners, the front is very well used. Also, in the upper central part there is a hole that houses the selfie camera.

The rear cover has a textured matte finish that reflects light a bit, but in the hand it gives us a premium feel, although, due to the rounded edges, it feels very comfortable.

In the back we also have four cameras arranged in a vertical format and the LED flash. Near this module is the company logo, which also works as a fingerprint detector.

At the top we have a microphone and the headphone jack, which always. In the lower part we have another microphone, the port usb type c and the only speaker, so unfortunately we don’t have stereo sound.

On the right side we have the on and off button, the volume buttons, and above we see a special button for Google Assistant. On the left side we see the tray for the SIM card and micro-SD card up to 1 TB.

In this device we find a 6.8 inch screen IPS, FULL HD plus (2,460 x 1,080 px resolution) and a 120 Hz update rate, without a doubt one of the highlights of this mid-range.

The Moto G60s screen also supports HDR10 content playback. Regarding brightness, it has 562 nits in automatic mode and behaves very well in the sun, although the viewing angles are not very good.

Also, in the configuration of the Moto G60s we can make screen adjustments. In this sense, we can choose the brightness level, activate the dark mode to conserve the battery for longer or the night light option that gives your screen an amber tone. Plus, we have adaptive brightness that will automatically adjust based on the environment.

In the Moto G60s we can customize the phone with screen interface styles. Then we can activate the mode fullscreen for applications to display the content in the entire panel, and the interactive screen to view notifications and quick info while the screen is off.

If you want, you can choose the screen timeout -between 15 and 30 minutes-, activate the automatic rotation of the screen, choose between natural and saturated colors, the font and screen size.

Another important feature of the Moto G60s screen is the refresh rate. Here we can choose the 60 Hz option, which is less fluid but ideal for longer battery life; the 120 Hz option, which is much more fluid; or automatic mode.

We also have the possibility to activate the attentive screen to prevent it from turning off while you look at it, take a screenshot with three fingers, swipe to split the screen and, finally, record screen in 1080 or 720p resolution at 60 or 30 FPS.

This device works with a processor MediaTek Helio G95 which provides very efficient performance. can run smoothly Android 11 enter and exit applications. He never felt heavy or stuck and delivered on every section.

We also tried it in video games, like Pokémon GO where there were no fluidity problems in the fights with other trainers in the movements and attacks of the pokémon. The same thing happened when making captures.

Also, we tested the performance of the mobile in a heavy game like Call of Duty Mobile. There were no lag or latency issues, although we recommend not maxing out the title’s graphics for a good experience.

The processor of the Moto G60s is complemented by an interesting 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. In this way, we have a device with good performance and enough space to save photos and videos.

One of the most outstanding features of Motorola phones is their sound quality, and this Moto G60s is no exception. Its only speaker is at the bottom of the phone, which makes the sound very powerful with very well contained distortion. Here we show you the sound of the Moto G60S in a song, a video and in video games.

With regard to biometrics, in the Moto G60s we have the fingerprint reader and facial recognition. The reader is located at the rear and is fast and accurate. Face unlock also works very well.

Another highlight of this device is its huge 5,000 mAh battery, which shines even more thanks to a fast charge that supports up to 50 watts. The charger comes in the box and has two ports: USB type C and USB type A. The first allows you to use 50 W, while the second only reaches 20 W.

This device has a battery saver mode that disables or restricts background activity, some visual effects, and other power-intensive features, as well as the option adaptive battery that limits the battery consumption of apps you don’t use often.

The Moto G60s also has an optimized charging option. The device recognizes your charging patterns and predicts how long it will be connected.

This smartphone has four cameras on the back: a 64 MP main sensor, an 8 MP wide-angle lens, a 5 MP macro camera and a 2 MP depth lens. On the front we have a 16 MP sensor.

Regarding the camera app, we have portrait, crop, spot color, night vision, cinematography, panorama, group selfie, ultra-res, interactive filter, and pro options. As for video, we have slow motion, fast motion, spot color and dual capture modes.

As for the behavior of the rear camera of the Moto G60s, it performs very well in situations with favorable lighting (during the day), although the dynamic range and the level of detail can be improved.

In this sense, the images taken by the main camera of the Moto G60s are clear, they handle a good level of contrast. As for the color, it could be considered that it is not as sharp as live and direct, but on a general level the result is correct.

Likewise, its 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor with a 118-degree field of view also has acceptable results. In addition, it has a night vision mode that helps in low light scenarios.

We can also capture close-ups in Macro mode with an f/2.4 aperture lens. The result is respectable, with just the right level of detail and sharpness. The front camera, for its part, achieves quite acceptable selfies during the day.

The Moto G60 offers the possibility of recording video in 4K at 30fps and 1080p at 30/60/240fps. We have been able to test it in open spaces, where the results are good thanks to its stabilization option.
