NASA will reveal this Monday the astronauts who will go to the Moon after 50 years

NASA has announced in an exciting video a sneak peek at the crew of Artemis 2, the mission that will take humans back to the Moon after 50 years. The trailer shows the astronauts wearing the new spacesuit, made by the Axiom Space company, as they walk towards the Orion capsule module, the spacecraft that will fly over the satellite.

The crew, made up of four astronauts (three Americans and one Canadian), will be announced this Monday, April 3 at a press conference in Houston. The live broadcast of the event will begin at 10:00 am (Peruvian time).

What will the Artemis 2 mission be like?

Artemis 2 will fly over the satellite just as Artemis 1 recently did, the unmanned voyage that tested the safety of new vehicles, including the Space Launch System (SLS) megarocket. The mission will take approximately ten days and is scheduled for May 2024.

“The astronauts will travel aboard NASA’s Orion spacecraft during the Artemis 2 mission, the first crewed flight test in the agency’s plan to establish a long-term scientific and human presence on the lunar surface,” announced the US space agency in a statement.

This mission is the second phase of the Artemis program, the ambitious United States space project whose ultimate goal is the return of man to the lunar surface, and thereby also bring the first woman to the satellite by 2025.
