Ricardo Gareca is in Peru these days to participate in the 20th Peruvian Congress on People Management, in which the voice of the Tiger is essential. Before showing off his presence, the Tiger granted an interview with Economic Week and gave details of his feelings after being back in the country.
“We are calm that we gave everything, I gave everything to Peru. All I could give him, I gave. I recognize that a bad decision could have been made, but it is part of the experience and one never stops making mistakes, ”he pointed out. “I have nothing to reproach myself with,” he said.
Likewise, the Argentine coach admitted that he feels anger for not having qualified for the Qatar 2022 World Cup consecutively, since the Bicolor lost to Australia on penalties.
Will Ricardo Gareca direct again in Peru?
“The anger we all have, between players, those who make up the Peruvian team and the country for not achieving classification. But I can’t stay stuck in what doesn’t come back anymore, because it’s part of my profession: you win, you lose. You have to go out fast to grow, ”he said.
For Gareca, everyone gave their best effort and was lost for details. “The boys gave everything, all of us who were there did the same. From there I stay calm, ”he added.
Finally, the former coach of Vélez Sarsfield clarified that for now he intends to close a cycle with the Peruvian team, but also stressed that nothing has been said and he could return in the future.
“One has to get used to closing processes, but neither you nor I can see the future. Within one’s career there are places where affection is deeper and is never forgotten, it is always there. Peru will never be one more step: it is a mark that left something deep in me. I feel great affection and admiration for the Peruvian soccer player, for the people. I can’t say for sure if I’ll be back or not,” he concluded.
