samsung is aware of the great growth of its Chinese rivals such as Xiaomi and OPPO. For this reason, the South Korean firm is constantly working on new technologies that seek to differentiate its high-end mobiles above other brands. In this sense, the manufacturer has presented its new 200-megapixel sensor that will be used in the powerful Galaxy S23 Ultra, which will be launched on February 1, 2023.

The ISOCELL HP2 is Samsung’s fourth 200 MP sensor since the brand previously launched the HP1, which was used by Motorola and Xiaomi smartphones; the HP3, which we met in June 2022, and the HPX, focused on the Chinese cell phone market.

The new 200 megapixel sensor of samsung called ISOCELL HP2 It is 1/1.3″ pixels in size by 0.6 μm and comes with all-new technology to expand dynamic range and improve color reproduction.

Name HP2 It might suggest that the new sensor is somehow less powerful than the 200 MP ISOCELL HP3, but really, the number just relates to the size of the individual pixels.

Samsung claims this new camera leverages the brand’s high-resolution image sensor technologies and cutting-edge know-how for epic detail, meaning this is the Korean manufacturer’s best product yet.

The new sensor samsung integrates technology Tetra2Pixel of pixel combination, which allows different arrangements depending on the scene. In low-light environments, the HP2 can bin 4 to 1 for 1.2 μm pixels and 50 MP resolution or 16 to 1 for 2.4 μm pixels and a resulting 12.5 MP image.

Also, the 50 MP mode allows for 8K video recording at 30 fps, of “cinematic quality”. In addition, it presents its Dual Vertical Transfer Gate (D-VTG) technology at the ISOCELL HP2 which helps the sensor reduce overexposure and produce better colors.
