The exhibition, which was open to the public from January 20 to 22, showed an enveloping environment created that combined magnificent beaches, carnival, religion, customs, the most beautiful and exuberant landscapes, rivers, mountains, music , gastronomy, crafts, tradition and in a special way, the works of great Dominican artists that define us as a nation. Through videos projected on the four sides, as well as above and below, to create the effect of total immersion and abstraction, Morilla not only limits himself to tourism promotion, which he achieves with a high aesthetic sense, but also encompasses and includes the work of prominent Dominican visual artists, masters and novice artists, which groups in an exquisite gallery of upright taste and artistic invoice of impressive value.

In the Paseo del Prado, in the very center of Madrid, visitors experienced the sensation of visiting the Dominican Republic and being captivated by its charms. The 24-minute immersive experience was on display on January 20, 21 and 22, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with reservation, reaching a record attendance of 3,125 visits over the three days of the exhibition.

Morilla, an observant and rigorous creator, careful with aesthetics, created this magnificent installation that obviously attracted the attention of visitors to the fair and visitors to the Spanish capital these days. They have set their sights on this creation which, at the same time, is a call to visit the Dominican Republic and project its natural wealth, its attractions and its art.

Development of the work

This unique audiovisual experience was clearly made by Ciba. Morilla, a native of La Vega, was accompanied by artists from his hometown, as well as from Santiago and Moca. With an original score created by the young vegan musician Reagan Liriano, mixes for each of the immersive content. The edition was in charge of Esteban Cepeda; the filmography by Woki-Toki, the mapping responsibility of Mister LuLo; animation by Kelvin Reynoso, Leardy Renders, Leardo Lizardo and Randy Ramos. The images, by Franklin Tolentino and Johan Paulino and the cast by Grecheen Acosta. The collaboration of the lens artists José Miguel Ángeles, Fausto Ortiz, José Antuniano and Felix Sepulveda.

An arduous work of more than eight months of collecting, filming, animating images and coordinating its development. The content of this work by Raul Morilla includes a selection of artists, both young and master, who represent Dominicanness, among whom we can mention Danilo de los Santos, Cándido Bidó, Ricardo Toribio, Koco Toribio, Lizander Mejía, Kilia Llano, Angurria , Scheherazade Garcia, Yuli Monción and Wally Vidal.

about the artist

Raúl Tamayo Morilla Rodríguez. He was born in La Vega Dominican Republic in 1972. He is an installationist, sculptor and draftsman. He graduated from the “Francisco Soñé” School of Fine Arts in his hometown. The architect graduated from the Technological University of Santiago (UTESA). He completed his artistic studies with various workshops in Altos de Chavón, as well as in Santo Domingo and Cuba. He has a diploma in Art History. Since 1994 he has been a teacher of artistic drawing, design and plastic expression at the Universidad Católica Tecnológica del Cibao UCATECI. His works are in different museums and institutions, he has exhibited in Miami, Atlanta, Senegal, Paris, Cuba, Israel, Portugal, Germany and Colombia.
