What did Apple fans imagine the ‘iPhone of the future’ would be like 10 years ago?

You may not remember it, but there was a time on YouTube when videos revealing what the ‘iPhone of the future’ would look like would go viral. Back then, content creators had no problem showing off the alleged phones of Manzana that included really innovative features. Although thousands of people were speechless at the time, these designs now turn out to be quite hilarious.

One of the most popular videos, which to date has over 42 million views, was posted on January 21, 2013 by user Sonitdac. In said clip, an alleged iPhone 6 is shown that would have a built-in projector, which would make a virtual keyboard appear where we could write freely. It also had the ability to project the screen onto a flat surface, such as a wall.

By reading the older comments on the video, you can see that many believed that this concept was real and showed their admiration for Apple. The exact opposite is true when you check out the most recent comments, as most take the video humorously. Some even admit to having been part of those who were naive and believed in the veracity of said clip.

“And here we are in 2023. The iPhone 14 does not come with a charger”, “Ten years later, none of this has been planned”, “I confess, I thought that was going to be true”, “I remember seeing this as a child and think it was real”: these are some of the comments that users made in this video, which is not the only one of its kind. Believe it or not, there are others that are just as curious.

Another similar video, with 15 million views on YouTube, shows us an ingenious parachute system that, supposedly, the iPhone 7 was going to have. As you remember, at that time, the phones developed by Apple were characterized by being quite fragile, so this crazy idea dazzled many fans at the time, who came to think it was true.

It is worth noting that not all concepts are totally far from reality. In December 2013, a user named ConceptsiPhone submitted an alleged iPhone 11 that had a second screen on the left side. There were the volume buttons, the mute button, among other functions, such as the flashlight, access to the camera, etc.
