What did Carlos Zambrano say about his renewal at Boca Juniors?

Of the two Peruvian players in Boca Juniors the most criticized was Carlos Zambrano (33); his irregularity and arrogance on the field were used as arguments for the Argentine sports press, characterized by his vehemence when commenting on soccer.

In the 18 games he started as a starter he received nine yellow cards. He came to miss intermediate matches in the chronology of the league journey due to the accumulation of cards, but finally he became champion of the Argentine league.

At the celebration of the championship in La Bombonera, accompanied by Darío Benedetto Luis Advíncula and other soccer players, the Peruvian drank beer and raised the championship cup. Meanwhile, he declared for TNT Sports about his near future.

“I have to talk it out. I said it at one point, I would like to enjoy every game, every moment at the club, which is the most beautiful thing that has happened to me in my football career. But let’s see, since the semifinal of the Cup is still to come. I hope to win it too, so we have to prepare ourselves for what’s to come”, declared Zambrano while La 12 sang songs against their rivals River Plate and Racing.

The defender’s contract expires on the last day of 2022, according to the Transfermarkt portal. Zambrano could sign an extension when the so-called soccer council — led by former soccer player Román Riquelme — decides. If not, he will have to find another club to continue his career. He still has years of football left.

Without anything certain yet, the Victorian club Alianza Lima is outlined as a possible institution in which Zambrano can stand out.
