What happened to Tenchy Ugaz, the soccer player from Trujillo who wanted to be a congressman after retiring from soccer?

The former player of Deportivo Municipal, Juan Aurich and other teams in League 1, Tenchy Ugaz walked away from the fields after being left without a club due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Just at the beginning of 2020 he had signed a contract with Sports Coopsol to play for a season, but the quarantine prevented training and sporting events from taking place.

At his best, the right-back played the Libertadores Cup 2013 wearing the Aurich shirt. He also participated in the Copa Sudamericana and was champion in our country with San Martín.

After leaving football, Tenchy Ugaz began his facet as an entrepreneur. In mid-2020, the former soccer player opened his business “El Fiel”, dedicated to the sale of sportswear such as sweatshirts, t-shirts, shorts, etc. “I’m not ashamed to work at anything,” Ugaz said when questioned about his new job.

A year later, he gave a radical change to his life by entering politics. The former soccer player applied for the 2021 Elections with the aim of achieving a seat in Congress, under the protection of the party People’s Renewal.

“My mission would be to work for the children and youth of La Libertad. I have the gift of serving and I will see what happens in these months. I decided to join the party, because the candidates who run for this political party have earned a name in Trujillo, they are loyal and hard-working, “he told the press as part of his campaign.

Despite his efforts, Ugaz failed to obtain a seat in Parliament. However, today he dedicates much of his time to helping members of his community, since he makes donations to the most needy families and supports children’s sports development for free.
