What is known about the 4 children lost in Guaviare a month after their disappearance in Colombia?

It has been more than a month since four children lost in Guaviare, who would have survived a plane crash in which they were traveling, were lost in the middle of the jungle in the south of Colombia. Every day, about 200 people (120 military and 73 indigenous) travel through the area, morning and night, trying to move through the hostile vegetation to find them.

The accident happened last May 1. The Cessna 206 plane was carrying them: LM, 13 years old; SM, 9; TM, 4 years old; and baby CM, 1 year old.

Time has not diminished the faith to find them, quite the contrary, the general Pedro Sanchez, commander of the special search and rescue forces, said they are getting closer to finding them. “We are already closing the siege. We think we are supremely close,” he assured.

The Guaviare jungle, in the Chiribiquete Park, is thick and virgin (visibility is reduced to 20 meters), so finding them is very difficult. The general affirmed that the minors are still there “hanging around.”

The complicated search process continues. One of the latest clues that have been found are footprints and indications that one of the team’s dogs would be with the minors, according to local media reports.

“We have a lost dog, and the last tracks show a dog track and (…) the track of a child. We believe that Wilson is with them. That’s the name of the dog, but he’s lost. It would be spectacular for the puppy to be with them, it would be good company,” said Lieutenant Colonel Fausto Avellaneda in the program “The informants”.

During the process, in such a harsh ecosystem, they have found freshly bitten fruits, some footprints, scissors, a teapot, among other things. They have also resorted to the use of whistles, search dogs, night reflectors, sound booths with messages in the voice of the children’s grandmother, but nothing has yet been found.
