the children’s program “Cloudlight” was one of the most successful television productions in the 1990s. The Panamericana TV program aimed at children was one of the most anticipated on weekends, due to its dynamic games, songs with positive messages, the charisma of the conductors called dalinas, famous guests, among others. However, there was a tragic event that marked the members of the show and all its viewers, the so-called ‘clouders’.

The tragedy that mourned Nubeluz

On November 4, 1990, it aired for the first time. “Cloudlight” and it had a great reception that led the program to be broadcast in 19 Latin American countries and even in the US, it was also able to get around 24 million viewers. However, the show led by Mónica Santa María and Almendra Gomelski from Dalina went through one of the saddest moments on television.

On March 14, 1994, the main Peruvian media reported the unfortunate departure of the host Mónica Santa María at the age of 21. According to information from the authorities, the so-called “children’s angel” took her own life in her apartment located in the district of La Molina, using a firearm —property of her boyfriend. Why “Nubeluz” went off the air?

Almond and Monica were not the only dalinas of the children’s show. In 1992, she joined Lilianne Kubiliun, who was during the license that the youngest of the drivers took. Soon after, she joined the team. Xiomara Xibile. However, after the tragedy starring Mónica Santa María in 1994, the “Nubeluz” program was never the same again. Gomelsky continued ahead of the television space and continued on some tours with the so-called Xiomy.

For Lily it was impossible to continue and she chose to return to the United States. Already in 1995, a new season was tried, but it did not have the same reception from the public. Almendra left the project in the middle of the year and Xibile shortly after. A year later, and with the participation of Karina Calmet, the format was definitively stopped being broadcast.

The pioneer of the dalinas had her own children’s space after the end of the Panamericana TV show. Years later she decided to dedicate herself to acting and she formed her family, she currently has two children. In 2014 she was the presenter of “La voz kids” and, two years later, she was part of the reunion for the 25th anniversary of “Nubeluz”. In the same way, she integrated the program “Mujeres sin filtro” on América TV.

Lilianne Kubiliun

The presenter known as ‘Lily Braun’ came to “Nubeluz” as a replacement for Mónica Santa María, who was in the US. After the death of the “dalina chiquita” she returned to reside in North America. She was invited for the 25th anniversary of the famous children’s program 7 years ago.

Xiomara Xibille

Xiomy also entered when Santa María was away for a while. Previously, she was already known as a model in Colombia and, after her time on “Nubeluz”, she was able to have her own children’s space on Ecuadorian television. She continued as a host in some programs and participated in soap operas. She is now a businesswoman and has two restaurants.
